Book; Spells; Floating Severed Heads Empty
PostSubject: Book; Spells; Floating Severed Heads   Book; Spells; Floating Severed Heads Icon_minitimeSat Apr 05, 2008 3:42 am

Oyashio walked the narrow halls of the darkened cavern. He krept slowly into a small room, keeping one hand on the wall, and another in front of him so as not to bump into something.

He reached what felt like a dusty decrepid bookcase. He gripped his staff and concentrated.

"FIRE!" He lit the room for a few seconds, long enough to memorize the span of the room. He noticed a candle on the table just as the light went out, "Perfect." He grabbed the candle and yet again yelled, "FIRE!" He lit the candle thusly and leaned his staff against the crumbling walls.

He walked along the bookcase reading the titles aloud of the books he could make out. He spotted a large blue book, but the title was unreadable. "Mm? What's this?" He grabbed the book and opened it. Feeling the pages, he blew away the dust and watched it scatter through the air. He placed the candle on a nearby surface, and began reading the book.

"Kelarae Luo... Omohgu... Alli-.... Kreschu...?" Oyashio looked around for a response, but nothing happened. He though nothing of it and placed the book, open, next to the candle. He continued his research, not realising that the spell he had just read aloud, was glowing in the book.

Streams of light energy began flowing out of the book. It gathered into one giant orb and manifested into an unknown creature. Oyashio turned at the sound, but saw nothing but the candle, the book, and the remnants of the room. He yet again continued his research. Just then something screamed high pitched and attacked him, he managed to just barely dodge the attack and rolled and grabbed his staff and landed on his feet.

He chanted and then yelled, "Wind Scythe!" A mass of blade stormed the creature, stunning it. It fell to the ground and Oyashio walked up to it and finished the job by stabbing it through the chest. He grabbed the candle and held it up to the beast, trying to analyze it, but he did not reckognize it. Just then the eyes started moving and stared at him.

Oyashio jumped back and yelled again, "Blade!" just then a blade formed at the end of his staff. He charged the beast piercing it through the waist, cutting it in two. He cut off the head and released the magic, putting the staff away on his back. He grabbed the book and the candle and assumed it was the only one. he thouhg tit too dangerous and decided to leave.

"That was odd... Why couldn't my staff's pierce kill it?"

Out of nowhere the candle blew out and Oyashio was charged from behind. He stumbled to the ground and looked blankly in the direction "More of you eh?" He grabbed his staff off his back again, "FIRE!" He lit the room, revealing what seemed to be the severed head of the creature he had just slain. "W-what...?" The fire vanished and Oyashio grabbed the book, running in every direction, trying to find his way out, only to find himself in an even bigger room.

"Damn." He concentrated and lit the room again, "FIRE!" He looked around and saw many torches. The fire went out again so he concentrated on the ones he remembered, "FIRE beam!" He shot fire at the torched he memorized, opnyl to reveal the severed head in front of him, "DAMN!" He trashed about with his staff, but the head dodged each one. The head rammed him in the stomach, making him lose balance and go flying, hitting a wall.

Stumbling to his feet, Oyashio concentrated, "Blade!" He recreated the blade, and charged at the head, cutting it in two. "Ive had enough of you!" He charged, "FIRE!" he set the head ablaze.

Little did he realise the creatures manifesting from the book behind him...

Daryn stepped into the path on the Stromm mountainside, not sure of how to cross. He'd heard that the easiest way was to find a cave and use the convenient lava vent-created formations rather than climbing. Not sure of his luck going around (the place he needed to get was directly across!) and even less sure of his luck navigating the dangerous peaks, he headed forth looking for some sort of path-looking entrance.

After a while of traveling, he encountered a subterranean crack in the cliff slide that looked like it had some wear and tear footmarks to it. He shrugged, willing to take the gamble.

He stepped into the cave, pulling out his sword and calling forth a small, dancing flame to flicker at the end of it. It was really all the elemental magic he could muster, and one of the most basic things, but saved him a lot of trouble most of the time.

The cave walls flickered and twitched in harmony with the flame's dance, casting deceiving shadows on the walls that almost but not quite looked as if they were reaching to grab hold of Daryn. He began to wonder if it was such a good idea after all, but shook that thought away. After all, anything that was in these caves he could probably handle anyway.

After a while of traversing the undermountain road, Daryn saw flashes of light and sounds of a fight up ahead. Readying himself, he put out the flame on his katana and walked closer in the blind shadows.

He saw, up ahead, a grey haired man who looked aged, but not elderly. He was fighting what looked to be a severed head?!

Daryn waited to see what happenened, and watched as the man belligerently attacked and killed it. Then Daryn saw some shadoy, mystical uknown cratures.

"Look out!" he said, jumping out from his hiding place and slicing one lengthwise in half as it charged for the stranger.

"Looks like you could use a hand."

The lengthwise pieces of the demon lifted off the ground, "Thank you stranger! But you're going to need more than that to stop them!" He casted a spell, "Wind Dance!" Blades of wind thrashed the twopieces about, twisting and mangling them.

He jumped back to back to the stranger man, and readied himself. Just then dozens upon dozens of the creatures flew out of the book, "This treachery must be my doing!" He began hitting them with his staff knowing that he needed more, hoping he could at least injure them.

"I know this sounds crazy, But I need you to follow my lead okay?" He looked at the man, and lit his staff on fire. He began spinning it, casting another spell, "Hover!" The staff began to hover and Oyashio ran into the corner, motioning the man to follow as he cast barrier.

The staff's flame grew brighter and stronger with each passing second. "I hope this barrier will hold!!!!!" The pathetic attack seemed stronger than the eyes knew, flames shot out in every directionout of both ends of the staff. Creatures were hit one by one, burning them to ashes.

Oyashio let down the barrier, and grabbed his staff, stopping the attack before they were struck "We must get out of here!"

Daryn jerked back in surprise when the monster's halves got up.

"It's sill ALIVE?!"

He quickly gained his cool again and started to fight off the monsters as well, trying to cut them into as small pieces as possible. However, it was difficult, and they fought back hard.

"I know this sounds crazy, But I need you to follow my lead okay?" the older man asked, and Daryn was content to do so, knowing teamwork was definitely needed to extinguish the threat.

They were both behind the barrier, and Daryn began to wonder what he'd gotten himself into when the old man stated that they'd need to retreat.... which sounded like an excellent plan.

The barrier went down and the man blocked the monster's attack just in time. Daryn glanced around.

"You go first, I'll cover our backs." He sliced one's head off and then proceeded to dismember its still attacking body as he said this.

Oyashio nodded and swiftly bolted to the nearest exit. He lunged as another creature attempted to stop him. Gripping his staff, he swung violently at the creature, knocking it to the ground, running through the door, he looked back at his new comrade, to make sure he was being followed.

Daryn heard the man's footsteps head off towards the exit and turned to dismember another of the attacking beings. Blood spurted from the de-limbed bodies of them as they stubbornly kept attacking despite their injuries. Seeing the dead seem to pick themselves up and mass together deeper within the cave, Daryn grinned as an idea hit.

He glanced behind quickly and saw Oyashio looking behind to make sure he followed, shot him a thumbs up, and then charged into the throng, soon surrounded by disfigured attackers. Daryn's speed kept him safe as he rushed in, slicing off hands or whole forearms as they grasped for a loose bit of fabric or a limb to pull him down. Every time he beat one down, two more took its place. Daryn wasn't worried though; he'd charged into the group with a plan, one he could only make work with the only other living entity in the cave at a save distance.

Planting his feet firmly in the cave floor and shutting his eyes, Daryn ignored the creatures for the moment and concentrated on his planned action.

The air around him tingled like that before a thunderstorm, a tense feeling of anticipation that could almost be seen. The creatures seemed to see it too, but although it slowed their movements, did nothing to stop them.

His eyes snapped open and he mimed pushing outwards, and a dark wall of flames combined with a telekinetic push forced the creatures back from him in a swirling, expanding inferno. The bodies, especially those closest to him, crisply crumpled to the ground as the smell of burnt flesh hung in the air.

There were more, he figured, but Daryn chose that moment to run out of the cave as quickly as he could. He knew that the amount of strength it took for him to do something like that was a lot, and wanted to get out of there before the energy and adrenaline of the fight wore off.
